About his recent kidney transplant, Hall & Oates co-founder Daryl Hall took to Instagram on Tuesday (6.23,) to confirm that he had received the new body part from a “living donor”.
“Hi everybody!” “I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!,” said the 79-year old musician.
Adding that he should be “back to normal” within a few months-time, the superstar singer/songwriter added “So get ready for more music and lots of Daryl’s House shows. You all take care!”
Live kidney donation is when a healthy person donates one of their kidneys to someone whose kidneys don’t work, and need dialysis or a transplant to stay alive. Most people can lead a normal life with one kidney.
In 2005, the Pennsylvania-native postponed a string of Hall & Oates shows after being diagnosed with Lyme disease.
In June of 2024, Daryl dropped D, his sixth solo album, and most recently he hosted Live from Daryl’s House, an online music series in which the iconic artist performs with his band and various guests at his home in Millerton, New York.
While Hall & Oates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, in 2023 Hall and John Oates announced that they would no longer perform together due to a legal battle over their publishing rights. The dispute has since been resolved in August of 2025.
