Following their initial Extraterrestrial Transmission version, Coldplay has just debuted the official music video for their latest single “Higher Power.”
Directed by Dave Meyers, the new video from the Chris Martin-fronted band includes a sci-fi adventure set on the planet Kaotica, complete with mechanical animals and acrobatic aliens featuring Seoul’s Ambiguous Dance Company. According to the Atlantic Records press release, allusions to The Terminator, Blade Runner, and The Fifth Element have been made.
“The video serves as a metaphor for how we all feel alienated, disconnected from our world, almost as if we’re on an alien planet right now,” director Meyers said in a statement. “And eventually, we discover love on the streets, and the euphoria propels us into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.”
