In memory of Olivia Newton-John, who died last week, Coldplay, Natalie Imbruglia, and Jacob Collier performed a cover of “Summer Nights” during their concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.
During the live performance, Imbruglia sang Newton-John’s part of John’s Grease hit while Coldplay’s Chris Martin took on John Travolta’s part with Collier on the chorus, as the audience sang along.
In addition to the tributary cover, Coldplay accompanied Natalie for a duet of her 1997 debut single, “Torn.”
Coldplay are currently on the British leg of their Music of the Spheres Tour, that aims to cut direct emissions from the pop/rock legends’ last tour in 2017 by 50 percent. The shows are also being powered entirely by renewable, super-low emission energy by installing solar panels at each venue, “kinetic stadium floor and kinetic bikes powered by fans,” and transporting around a mobile, rechargeable show battery to store the energy.
