On Tuesday (12.05,) sources told TMZ that Britney Spears‘ father Jamie Spears was hospitalized for weeks with a massive infection in one of his legs. And after reportedly undergoing five unsuccessful procedures to contain the infection, doctors decided to amputate the leg.
The now 71-year-old parent has reportedly not been doing well since the operation a month ago.
Now 42, Britney has had a challenging relationship with her father for many years, particularly after he became her conservator in 2008. When the pop star publicly accused him of abuse and mistreatment, Jamie was removed from the position in September 2021 and the conservatorship was terminated altogether two months later. However, there are still ongoing legal issues between Britney and Jamie relating to the arrangement.
As of late, the embattled chanteuse appears to be mending fences with other members of her estranged family as she reunited with her mother Lynne in Los Angeles over the weekend for her 42nd birthday. Her brother Bryan was also present at the celebrations, and while her younger sister Jamie Lynn was reportedly invited, she did not attend.
On Monday (12.04,), the musician took to her Instagram account telling her fans that she felt “blessed” to be reconnected with her family, writing “Being embraced by family this year and knowing you can have people to trust … well damn y’all I feel BLESSED !!! I LOVE Y’ALL SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!”
