Barry Manilow’s Agonizing Cancer Treatment

A quarter year after pausing his farewell tour due to a cancer diagnosis, Barry Manilow took to social media to share a video message update on his ‘agony’ amid treatment for lung cancer.

Describing the mandated break from work as “agony”, the now 82-year old icon admitted he had “no patience” as he waited to complete treatment, adding “It’s been a long ride and since I have no patience, it’s been agony.” “But I am getting stronger. And I have great doctors and wonderful friends and family, but I am so looking forward to getting back on stage.”

It was in December of 2025 that the superstar singer/songwriter confirmed that doctors had found a cancerous spot on his lung when they checked him over after a bout of bronchitis.

“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.” “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” said Barry at the time.

Though he’d been working out three times a day, the musician was still unable to “sing more than three songs in a row,” As such, his concert tour would need to be postponed and he recalled his doctor telling him, “Barry, you won’t be ready to do a 90-minute show. Your lungs aren’t ready yet. You’re in great shape considering what you’ve been through, but your body isn’t ready.”

Notwithstanding his medical condition, on Tuesday (3.03,) Manilow managed to plug his new album, What a Time, with “What a time it’s been.” “Hey, that’s the name of my new album! It’s called What a Time. It comes out real soon and I can’t wait to show these songs to you.”
