Slated to perform at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday night (8.04) as part of his The Last Concerts tour, Barry Manilow postponed a concert at the very last minute due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Shortly before the gig was to begin, a representative took to social media announcing that the show had to be postponed, adding “Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s show in Lexington has been rescheduled.”
A spokesperson for Rupp Arena commented: “Due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances, the Barry Manilow concert scheduled for tonight, August 4 at Rupp Arena is postponed. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date once it is announced.”
Open about his health in recent years, and not the first time the now 83-year old has cancelled shows, in December of last year Barry confirmed his stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis and the need to undergo surgery.
In March of this year, the native New Yorker announced that he was cancer-free, writing:
“This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks,” he told People. “And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought.”
At press time, representatives for Barry Manilow have not yet commented on the latest cancellation, though he is next scheduled to perform at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday evening (8.05.)
