Approximately one year following frontman Steven Tyler fracturing his larynx during a September 2023 show, Aerosmith announced that they will retire from touring.
In a formal statement confirming the news, the band said:
“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other.,” “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.” “We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage. We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time.”
Earlier this year, in February, Tyler’s daughter Mia, issued a statement on behalf of her father’s condition, writing:
“He’s not supposed to be talking sometimes, so I have to literally yell at him and be like, ‘You can’t be on the phone with me right now, lets just text.” “You can’t shut him up – he can’t close that mouth,” she joked, before adding that he’s “very healthy.”
Formed in 1970, some of Aerosmith’s infamous rock songs include ‘Love in an Elevator’ and ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.’ The iconic band’s last LP was Music From Another Dimension! (2012) and Steven Tyler released a solo album in 2016.
