After attending a court hearing concerning child support for his five-year-old daughter, Soraya, R&B singer and actor, Tyrese Gibson has been formally arrested.
According to court documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, after Judge Kevin Farmer found him in contempt for nonpayment of more than $73,000 in pst due child support, Gibson was taken into custody on September 9 at the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ordered in 2022 to pay $10,690 per month in child support, the famous Fast & Furious actor appeared in court on Monday (9.09) and during a contentious child support hearing, the judge said the multi-talented Gibson could avoid jail time if he remitted $73,526 within 48 hours to his former spouse, Samantha Lee. Tyrese was subsequently seen being handcuffed in court and removed by a bailiff.
In an exclusive Us Weekly interview earlier this year, Gibson stated that he was putting his heartbreak amid the messy relationship split into his new music, stating:
“It is the most important album I’ve ever done in my career.” “It’s about my divorce. And it’s about discovering the beauty that I found in my pain. That’s why it’s called Beautiful Pain.”
Before his former wife filed for divorce in December of 2020. Gibson and Lee were married for three years and Tyrese previously went public about the unfairness of the family court system toward fathers.
