Superstar golfer, Tiger Woods and superstar singer, Justin Timberlake have been given permission to turn an old theater in St Andrews, Scotland, into a sports bar called T-Squared Social.
Though Woods and Timberlake opened a T-Squared Social in midtown Manhattan in September of 2023, the proposed project in Scotland was met with significant resistance.
Despite a petition against the sports bar generating more than 10,000 signatures, the Fife Council has now granted planning permission for the project to move forward abroad.
In addition to retaining two cinema screens, T-Squared Social will turn the New Picture House Cinema into a luxury bar with sports simulators, duckpin bowling and darts. According to approved documents, the plans will allow locals to “experience a broader range of cinema, dining and entertainment” and will be “crucial in helping to secure a cinema offering going forward”.
Timberlake and Woods are shareholders in the real estate company Nexus Luxury Collection, which presented the sports bar application. The golfer revealed that he and the singer/songwriter came up with the idea while playing golf at their development in the Bahamas.
