According to British publication The Times. Beyoncé is officially one of forty people to be included in the French encyclopedic dictionary, Petit Larousse Illustré. In the European lexicon, the superstar singer/songwriter is listed as a proper noun where her entry reads, “American singer of R&B and pop.”
Not the only addition, other celebrity entries include Cate Blanchett, LeBron James and Christopher Nolan, among others, and in a statement to the French outlet Le Point from Carine Girac-Marinier, head of dictionaries and encyclopedias at Larousse, the new entries “reflect concerns, developments or strong movements this year.”
The latest 2024 accolade for the multi-Grammy award winner, Bey’s long-awaited, country focused Cowboy Carter LP debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, Americana/Folk Albums and Top Album Sales charts. She is also the first Black woman ever to have led the Top Country Albums list, dating to its January 1964 inception.
In addition to charting 23 songs from the album on the Billboard Hot 100, Beyoncé upped her career total from 85 entries to 106, becoming the 17th artist (and only the third woman) to have logged 100 or more titles since the chart began in 1958.
