Months after after being served with her first lawsuit over a delayed New York City concert, Madonna has been re-sued over concert delays by Washington D.C. concertgoers.
Accused her of showing “total disrespect” for her fans, according to the District of Columbia lawsuit filed in federal court on Friday (4.19), three fans accused the superstar singer (born Madonna Louise Ciccone) of taking the stage two hours late for her December 18 show at the Capital One Arena.
In addition to the musician, the new suit has named concert giant Live Nation as a defendant and according to Billboard, the plaintiff’s attorneys wrote:
“Forcing consumers to wait hours for her performance in a hot, uncomfortable arena is demonstrative of Madonna’s arrogant and total disrespect for her fans.” “In essence, Madonna and Live Nation are a consumer’s worst nightmare.”
The current lawsuit follows Madonna’s legal team submitting a motion to dismiss a class-action lawsuit filed by two fans in January after one of her Celebration Tour concerts in New York City started hours later than scheduled.
According to the first lawsuit, two concertgoers claimed that the December 13th Brooklyn show at the Barclays Center commenced at 10:30 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled at 8:30 p.m. start.
Insisting that a two-hour delay did not warrant a lawsuit, in their motion to dismiss, the Queen of Pop’s legal team stated “Plaintiffs speculate that ticketholders who left the venue after 1 a.m. might have had trouble getting a ride home or might have needed to wake up early the next day for work.” “That is not a cognizable injury.”
