Accused Rihanna Shooter Appears In Court

On Wednesday (4.08,) the woman accused of shooting at Rihanna‘s Beverly Hills home appeared at a brief court hearing.

Pleading ‘not guilty’ last month to 14 charges, including attempted murder of the superstar singer/entrepreneur, Ivanna Ortiz showed up at Los Angeles Superior Court, handcuffed and wearing a yellow prison shirt. As she was led her from her jail cell into the downtown LA criminal court, the blonde-haired defendant smiled as a sheriff’s deputy.

According to prosecutors, Ortiz drove to the Barbadian star’s home on March 8 and opened fire with an assault rifle.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Ortiz is facing 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and if convicted, could receive a life in prison sentence.

Stating that the shooting was premeditated with Ortiz driving to Rihanna’s home with “a loaded weapon, ammunition and a wig as a disguise,” Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott added “This could easily have resulted in multiple homicides of adults and children.”

At her March arraignment, Judge Theresa McGonigle refused to reduce Ortiz’s $1,870,000.00 bail.

On Wednesday, the new justice assigned to the case, Judge Shannon Cooley, also denied a plea by Ortiz’s public defender to lower the bail amount, and scheduled a follow up appearance for May 13, when a date will be set for the accused to have a full preliminary hearing.

Fortunately, no one was injured when Ortiz allegedly drove her white Tesla Model 3 to the star’s five-bedroom home and fired multiple shots towards the building and a neighboring house.

At the time of the incident, Rihanna, her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their children, sons RZA, three, and Riot, two, plus their six-month-old daughter Rocki, were all at the Beverly Hills mansion property.
