After he allegedly hacked into her personal devices, Britney Spears has threatened her former bodyguard with legal action.
In February, an attorney for the embattled pop star issued a cease-and-desist letter to Thomas Bunbury, accusing him of violating numerous state and federal laws by allegedly accessing her devices and Apple iCloud account without proper authorization or consent.
In the document attained by TMZ, Spears’ attorney warned Bunbury to stay away from the singer’s accounts and devices, delete any photos or documents he might have copied from them, disclose if he had shared the images and information with anyone else, and threatened to report the employee to the police and press charges if he did not comply with their demands.
According to reliable sources, the bodyguard was let go of this position in August of 2025 for allegedly breaking his non-disclosure agreement by communicating with the press and Britney’s fans. The alleged hacking incidents took place after his dismissal, subsequent to which the singer was reportedly locked out of her accounts more than once.
The latest drama comes several weeks after the 44-year chanteuse was arrested in Ventura, California on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol earlier this month.
According to law enforcement, Spears’ black BMW was seen “driving erratically at a high rate of speed”, and she “showed signs of impairment” when pulled over. After submitting to field sobriety tests, the star was arrested and taken into custody, and was released the next morning.
Scheduled to appear in court on May 4, at the time of her arrest, Britney’s manager said “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
Britney Spears has since deactivated her Instagram account, and was spotted out in public for the first time since her arrest on Sunday, shopping in Malibu.
