Ziggy Marley Honors Father In Song: Look + Listen

In celebration of what would’ve been Bob Marley’s February 6th birthday, his nine-time Grammy Award-winning son Ziggy Marley released “Many Mourn For Bob,” with a companion music video that reinforces familial intimacy by featuring rare, private images of his childhood and his father.

A deeply emotional song, the track serves as a profound meditation on the enduring legacy of his famous parent and marks the first time in Ziggy’s storied career that he has dedicated an original song specifically to his iconic father.

It was during Ziggy’s involvement in the production of the 2024 biopic Bob Marley: One Love, that allowed him to reflect on his dad’s life through a “new pair of eyes,” bridging the gap between his childhood memories and the global impact of the Marley legacy.

“‘Many mourn for Bob’ is a reflection on my father from the deepest parts of my heart and subconscious mind,” explained 57-year old Ziggy,

Concurrent with the musical homage, Ziggy confirmed his ninth solo studio album, Brightside, a creative and technical departure from his previous work, as the entire LP was recorded using 432Hz, a frequency noted for its soothing, warm, and soulful depth. This technical choice underscores the album’s core intent: to provide a “healing” sonic experience for the listener.

Fans can look forward to a staggered release of Brightside via V2, including the April 18th vinyl release and May 1st digital drop.
