For the first time since leaving One Direction in 2015, Zayn Malik has confirmed his first-ever solo tour.
The multi-talented musician was initially meant to hit the road in 2016 but cancelled the tour as he suffered “the worst anxiety of my career” and at the time stating “I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances.”
In support of ‘Room Under The Stairs’ his fourth solo LP due out in May, the now 31-year-old singer is heading out on the road this autumn.
The UK-born singer/songwriter will begin the ‘Stairway To The Sky’ tour in the United States opening in San Francisco on October 23 with subsequent stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Washington DC before wrapping in New York City on November 2. He will then head to the United Kingdom for six performances starting in Edinburgh on November 20 then in Leeds, Manchester, London and Wolverhampton before the tour ends with a show in Newcastle on December 3.
On Tuesday (9.17,) during a surprise walk-on skit at ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ Zayn announced the tour and took to Instagram thereafter with “Appreciate your patience, love, and support. Can’t wait to enjoy great music together. This time I really mean soon. See you in 35 days…”
Earlier this year, Zayn played his first live gig in support of the album at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
