Rosalía Featured On U2 Song

It’s on the U2 song she inspired, Rosalía helped the band’s frontman with his Spanish.

While recording their ‘The Mirror Maker (Rosalía)’ composition from the iconic rock band’s forthcoming LP, Carnaval de Luz, the Irish lead singer reached out to the Colombian songstress who helped guide the Spanish lyric title.

During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week, the Hispanic singer said “I don’t know him personally, but he texted me and told me that he had this new project and this song, The Mirror Maker,” and laughed when Bono made up some words, adding “I don’t know, but feel free to invent your own language.”

Adding that it was a huge honor to work with the 66-year-old music veteran, she said “Bono is a legend.” “It’s incredible.”

Apprehensive at first, Bono admitted he didn’t want to “look like a stalker” calling Rosalía to ask for her permission to name the song after her, and it was his friend Penélope Cruz who connected him to superstar female

During his Rolling Stone UK cover story interview, the legendary singer (born Paul David Hewson) said:

“It’s just a little embarrassing that she became so popular before we put out the song. But that doesn’t matter to me. Everyone knew about Martin Luther King too.” “I called Penélope: ‘What am I gonna do?’ (Penélope said), ‘Just call her.’ I’m like, ‘I look like a stalker.'”

Scared to meet her and show her the final mix of the track, he recounted “(Rosalía has) been really encouraging, and made me laugh a lot.” “I sort of don’t think I could meet her now. I’m just working up courage to send her the final mix.”

Stating that some artists “want to go through the mirror and see what’s on the other side,” the musician pointed to the figures who did that for him, addind “Patti Smith was one for me when I was growing up. There are many, though not enough. Rosalía is certainly one of them.” “It’s this idea that we’re body, soul and spirit – a rather old-fashioned, quaint notion – and she approaches it with great courage and a self-effacing humor. There’s not just physics; there’s metaphysics.”

The upcoming U2 LP also features ‘Torn,’ the very last song ever recorded by the late Dolly Parton.
