Tupac’s Family Files Wrongful Death Suit

Along with several unnamed co-conspirators, the family of Tupac Shakur has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles against Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis, as the main defendant.

On Tuesday (4.28,) the formal complaint was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court by Tupac’s stepbrother Maurice Shakur who claims recent developments have revealed a “complex conspiracy” to murder the music star.

According to Maurice (pka Mopreme,) the Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning and grand jury transcripts from Davis’ criminal proceedings have offered new leads regarding co-conspirators, meaning for “the first time in nearly 30 years, threads are starting to come together”.

In his complaint, Maurice said “Many individuals who were involved have long since passed away, while others have been hard to identify.” “Yet, one thing is certain: there remain individuals who were involved in Tupac’s murder who, for 30 years, have not been held accountable for their crimes. This action seeks to change that.”

Currently awaiting trial for his alleged involvement in the hip-hop legend’s 1996 murder, Davis was the only person ever charged in relation to the superstar rapper’s death, though he pleaded not guilty to the charges and is expected to go on trial in August.

Selling 75,000,000+ records, Tupac was one of the most successful rappers during the early 1990s prior to being shot four times in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas in September 1996, and subsequently dying in the hospital six days later, aged 25.

Amid rumors concerning complex gang and music rivalries, in the three decades that have passed, multiple law agencies have tried to solve the case, wth Las Vegas authorities charging Davis with first-degree murder in 2023.
