The Weeknd Drops ‘Try Me’ Video + Announces NFT Auction

Known as the King of the Fall, The Weeknd jumps into Spring with the 10-year anniversary celebration of his House of Balloons mixtape, the release of a vertical music video, and plans to enter into the NFT market.

To celebrate the three-year mark of his Weeknd XO / Republic-released My Dear Melancholy, EP, the singer/songwriter dropped a selfie video for “Try Me” alongside a tweet containing the cheeky message, “found this on my camera roll.”

The clip features previously-released footage of Abel Tesfaye singing the track’s sensual lyrics into the camera with the addition of new video surrounded by writhing bodies wrapping their limbs around each other.

In addition the MDM anniversary, the Grammy Award winner just announced an exclusive NFT collection of artwork and new music, to be auctioned off on Saturday, April 3rd at 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT. The offerings will include new music and limited edition art made available exclusively on Nifty Gateway. About the auction, the Weeknd said: “Blockchain is democratizing an industry that has historically been kept shut by the gatekeepers. I’ve always been looking for ways to innovate for fans and shift this archaic music biz and seeing NFT’s allowing creators to be seen and heard more than ever before on their terms is profoundly exciting. I intend to contribute to this movement and can see that very soon it will be weaved into the music industry’s mechanics.”
