Taylor Swifts Signs On To ‘Bodyguard’ Remake

According to the Daily Mail, Taylor Swift is in the final negotiation stages to assume Whitney Houston’s role in the remake of The Bodyguard.

The British outlet reports that a deal between Warner Bros and Swift is “almost done”, and that, after extensive talks, the superstar singer/songwriter is “close to signing.”

Current negotiations include Swift-penned music for the film, the available merchandise, as well as the actor who will portray the singer’s love interest.

Since news broke that the remake would be directed by Sam Wrench, who helmed the box office smash Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, speculation has run rampant that the now 35-year old musician would take on the role of lead Rachel Marron.

Though no casting decisions have yet been announced, screenwriter for Clint Eastwood 2024 courtroom drama Juror #2, Jonathan Abrams has been hired to pen the script.

In 1992, The Bodyguard spawned the best-selling soundtrack LP of all time, including the iconic 1973 Dolly Parton-penned song ‘I Will Always Love You,’ that helped cement Whitney’s reputation as a global icon. The film sparked a lifelong friendship between Houston and costar Kevin Costner who was one of the eight people to give a speech at the iconic singer’s 2012 funeral.
