At a price of $60.00, on Wednesday (10.14,), designers at Mattel Creations announced the launch of the Céline Dion Barbie Signature Doll.
Donning a long-sleeve navy blue gown and a replica of the “Heart of the Ocean” necklace from the 1997 blockbuster, Titanic, the iconic doll’s outfit evokes the look the Canadian chanteuse wore when she attended the 1998 Academy Awards, where she performed the Titanic theme, ‘My Heart Will Go On,’ and won the Oscar for Best Original Song on the night.
About the doll designed in her image, the 58-year old superstar said “It is a true honor to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of my career,” the 58-year-old declared, “I hope this doll inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice.”
Not the first female artist to be immortalized for the Barbie Signature Series, Dion follows in the musical footsteps of the late Whitney Houston, Miley Cyrus, Kylie Minogue, Gloria Estefan, Diana Ross, and Stevie Nicks, among others.
