As the solo artist with the most weeks at #1 on the Billboard album chart, Taylor Swift has officially broken Elvis Presley‘s record.
With the superstar singer/songwriter’s re-release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) returning to the top slot on the American 200 album chart for a fifth time during the last week of 2023, it puts Swift ahead of Presley’s record of 67 weeks in the #1 position.
With 68 non-consecutive weeks, the 34-year-old musician now holds the record as a solo artist, and is second overall behind the Beatles who hold the (group) record of 132 weeks atop of the same Billboard list.
Thanks in large part to her re-releasing LP project, Taylor also holds the record for the most albums to debut consecutively at #1 with 13. She is also the first living artist to have five full lengths in the Top 10 concurrently and the female artist with the most chart-topping albums in history (breaking Barbra Streisand’s record) with her re-release, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), in July.
Taylor Swift is currently third for the record of the most chart-topping albums overall, with The Beatles at #1 with 19, followed by Jay-Z with 14 and Swift with 13.
