Sean Ono Lennon Addresses Yoko + John’s Love

In order to preserve their musical legacy by overseeing the release of a special box set of Mind Games, John’s 1973 LP, Sean Ono Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono has opened up about his parents’ love relationship and marriage.

In an interview with People magazine, the young Lennon said “The whole album is about my mom.” “They’re mostly love songs about her. My dad declared to the world that ‘John and Yoko’ were one word.”

Though his parents had a tumultuous relationship that included an 18-month separation that began the same year Mind Games was released, Sean said his parents never lost their passion for one another, adding:

“I think he always had his heart set on her. He was so in love with her.” “They had a legendary love and I think that this album is infused with that love. You can hear it.”

When John was ready to record the full length, the couple stirred up controversy over their political activism and antiwar stance, with then-President Richard Nixon who concocting false drug charges to have them both deported from the United States.

“The FBI were tailing them and tapping their phones.” “Nixon was trying to deport them. It was really terrifying,” shared Sean.
