Following a raid on this home in Florida, on Thursday (5.23,) Sean Kingston was arrested on fraud and theft charges in California.
Born Kisean Anderson, local police issued a warrant for the singer after his rented mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida was raided and he was subsequently taken into custody hours later in California.
About the incident the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed “This evening, police in Fort Irwin, Calif., arrested Kisean Anderson, aka Sean Kingston without incident on a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges.” “According to investigators, he will be booked into jail in San Bernardino, Calif.”
In addition to the musician, the 34-year-old’s mother Janice Turner was also arrested at the Florida property on multiple fraud and theft charges during the Thursday raid.
Prior to his arrest Kingston took to his Instagram Stories with “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
The raid and subsequent arrests were the end result of an ongoing investigation triggered by a fraud and breach of contract lawsuit filed in February against Kingston by Ver Ver Entertainment. The lawyer for the company, Dennis Card, alleged that Kingston had not kept up with his payments on items within the home, telling NBC 6 South Florida:
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman.” “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches that are in there, there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organized systematic fraud.”
Explaining to Miami’s Local 10 News that the company was hoping to retrieve the goods after the raid the attorney added “We know that our property is inside this house right here, so as soon as the raid takes place we are going to have a crew of people in there to reassemble it and take it back to its rightful owner.”
