After cancelling a series of concerts, Sir Rod Stewart said that he’s been advised to stay off the road for the next four weeks as he recovers from a routine coronary stent procedure.
Now “very much on the mend”, an official statement provided to Billboard read:
“Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure.” “Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities. On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”
The formal announcement included a quote from Stewart, who assured his fans, “I’m already feeling better. I want to thank doctors, nurses, and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me. I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”
The medical update comes after Stewart cancelled consecutive performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland this week due to an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure”.
Confirming the coronary stent insertion, which is a small tube used to keep a narrowed or blocked artery open, the medical procedure will see the iconic singer/songwriter step away from upcoming dates on his North American One Last Time Tour and his Encore Shows residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
