With fans invited to celebrate her life by lining the procession route, details of Bonnie Tyler‘s funeral have now been released.
On August 15 at 3.30pm, the legendary singer’s coffin will take her home in Mumbles, Wales, with devotees encouraged to pay their respects and line Newton Road from 3.15pm. At midday on August 17 , the service to celebrate her life will take place at St Mary’s Church in Swansea, Wales. Born Born Gaynor Hopkins, the musician’s coffin will return to her hometown of Skewen, Neath Port Talbot, where its scheduled to travel through the village at around 1.20pm before a private family service is held.
In a notice placed in the South Wales Evening Post. the legendary singer’s family released the funeral plans, writing:
“Gaynor passed away tragically on July 8, 2026 at hospital in Portugal, aged 75. Born Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen on June 8, 1951, she was known professionally as Bonnie Tyler, a beloved Welsh singer whose powerful voice defined classics like Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero.” “She rose from local club performances to global fame, earning an MBE, Grammy nominations, and a place in music history with her iconic raspy vocals and unforgettable ballads.” “(Tyler was) a warm, generous artist whose music touched generations and continues to fill dance floors and karaoke booths around the world.”
As a result of an illness she was being treatment for, on July 8, Bonnie Tyler passed away at the age of 75. She is survived by Robert Sullivan, her husband of more than 50 years.
