After selling their complete catalogue of recorded music to Warner Music Group for a reported $300,000,000.00, Red Hot Chili Peppers have struck one of the biggest rock deals of 2026.
Covering thirteen studio LPs and decades of hits that continue to pull in huge streaming numbers, according to Billboard, the iconic band’s catalogue is said to generate some $26,000,000.00 per year, making it one of the most valuable in modern rock.
Hoping to land closer to $350,000,000.00, Anthony Kiedis and the group had been shopping the rights after taking ownership of their recordings in 2025.
In the end, it was the Chilis’ original record label Warner Bros – that released some of the band’s biggest LPs, including Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication – that solidified the deal.
The current master recording deal is separate from the Chili Peppers’ earlier 2015 sale to Hipgnosis Songs Fund who purchased the act’s publishing rights for some $150,000,000.00.
Following their 2022 back-to-back released Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen LP, the band have a new full length in the works.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, Chili’s bassist Flea recently confirmed that he and guitarist John Frusciante have been deep in writing sessions, working from the latter’s home studio adding “We’ve been writing and recording at John’s place, and the music feels great.” “Once we start playing, it’s all about finding that magic groove and doing it right.”
