Noah Kahan Slams The White House

After a government representative posted a slideshow of images on Instagram and TikTok showing President Donald Trump visiting General Motors in Michigan, Detroit, Noah Kahan blasted White House officials for using one of his songs as the soundtrack.

On Monday (7.27,) Kahan’s ‘American Cars,’ was selected to accompany the imagery along with the following caption:

“Made in America is BACK” “For decades, globalists sold out Michigan autoworkers, shipping jobs overseas and gutting Detroit’s factories. Every president before Trump promised to stop it. None did. Now Michigan has a President who fights for workers and puts America FIRST.”

Expressing his dissatisfaction in the comments section, on Tuesday (7.28,) the superstar singer/songwriter wrote “Would never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration.”

Though spokesmen for Trump and the White House have yet to publicly respond to the 29-year old artist’s statement, the music has since been removed from Instagram, yet remains on the TikTok version.

Not the first musician to criticize Trump and his administration for using their music in promos without permission, Sabrina Carpenter, Green Day, Ariana Grande and Olivia Rodrigo have also pushed back. And just last weekend, Katy Perry condemned the White House for using her song ‘Fireworks’ in video footage of American military strikes on Iran. In a social media post on Saturday (7.25,), the pop star stated:

“I am deeply appalled and angry to see Firework used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.” “I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments.””To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.”
