Adding to his ever-growing list of entertainer credits Nick Jonas suits up as legendary Four Seasons front man, Frankie Valli on the upcoming filmed production of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys.
One third of the Jonas Brothers and a solo recording artist in his own right, Nick took to Twitter on Monday (Aug. 9) to share a behind the scenes pose alongside CJ Pawlikowski (The Book of Mormon), who plays Bob Gaudio; Matt Bogart as Nick Massi; Andy Karl as Tommy DeVito; and the Jersey Boys‘ original director Des McAnuff.
“The past couple months I’ve been in Cleveland playing my dream role as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys!” wrote Jonas. “With our incredible cast and crew, we worked tirelessly to create an amazing musical movie event for you all. Stay tuned for more exciting news.”
In a June interview on Today, the 87-year old Valli confirmed the New Jersey-bred Jonas Bros member would portray him in the upcoming TV musical film stating: “[Jersey Boys] is being filmed for television and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is playing Frankie, and I’m really excited about that.”
From 2005 to 2017 on Broadway, the original four-time Tony Award-winning musical followed the story of ’60s pop group The Four Seasons and in 2007, the Jersey Boys: Original Broadway Cast Recording album won a Grammy Award for best musical theater album, with original Four Seasons member Gaudio as its producer.
In 2014 Clint Eastwood directed and produced the film adaptation of Jersey Boys based on the musical, with Valli and Gaudio serving as executive producers and starring Tony-winning original star John Lloyd Young as the lead singer.
