Six years since delivering her last full length, Nelly Furtado has confirmed that she is working on new music.
In an interview published by Fault magazine on Monday (5.22,) the Canadian-born singer/songwriter revealed that she’s been in the recording studio throughout 2023, stating:
“I have so much music. I’ve recorded a hundred songs in the last 18 months, and I’m so excited to bring people new music.” “I’ve surrounded myself with so many creative people in the studio over the last year. I’ve taken a ‘the more, the merrier’ approach and understood that you have to be open to staying exciting and fresh.” “It’s all about staying creative, being out there, listening to music, and being in the mix. You can’t expect to just rest on your laurels and then one day saunter into the studio and make good music.”
Though Furtado didn’t discuss specific release dates for her new repertoire, she confirmed collaborations with DJ Dom Dolla and the Colombian band Bomba Estéreo .
Released in March of 2017, The Ride was Nelly Furtado’s sixth studio album.
