A woman claiming the musician’s dog “viciously attacked” her when she was delivering a package to his Georgia home, Ne-Yo is being been sued for negligence.
Attempting to deliver a package to the Grammy award-winning superstar singer’s home near Atlanta, Dominique Bridgett alleged his pet lunged at her and bit her leg on July 12 of last year.
According to the plaintiff’s claims, the musician (born name Shaffer Chimere Smith,) knew his dog had a history of aggressive behavior yet failed to restrain it.
Obtained by Rolling Stone, the seven-page lawsuit read “As Bridgett tried to deliver a package, “defendant’s canine, suddenly and without warning, viciously attacked.” “Defendant’s canine mauled Bridgett, causing severe bodily injury, pain, shock, and distress.”
Insisting she did nothing to provoke the animal, Dominique alleges she’s thus far spent $9039.50 on medical treatment, and that the damages she is seeking also include future pain and suffering, as well as “lost capacity for enjoyment of life”.
Not the first such incident involving an singer’s canine, the current complaint comes after a housekeeper sued R&B star Chris Brown after being mauled by a dog at his Los Angeles home in 2020. In June, Maria Avila told the court that the attack had left her with severe injuries to her arm and face, extensive scarring, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Avila was awarded $13,000,000.00 in damages.
