During the Queen of Pop’s Thursday (3.07) show in Los Angeles, Madonna and Kylie Minogue blew the audience away by performing Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.’
Concurrent with International Women’s Day, the American and Australian pop superstars joined forces to sing the girl power anthem and Minogue’s ubiquitous hit.
To the delight of those attending Madge’s ‘Celebration Tour’ stop at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, the now 65-year old American disclosed her “very special guest” followed by a tight embrace of the 55-year old Aussie.
Addressing her audience, Madonna said “Now, this is what we call survival.” “It’s a privilege for me to be up here singing with you… God bless you, never give up.”
Wearing a rhinestone-emblazoned top with Madonna’s name, Kylie took to X (Twitter) sharing a clip of herself in the audience, with the caption “Madonna It’s been a long time coming!!! Loved being with you!!!! Celebration Tour and it is now International Women’s Day …. Thank you and Love Love Love.”
Last night’s duets come after Minogue recently stated that she’d jump at the chance to collaborate with Madonna, and joked that they would have to give plenty of “warning” about the two icons being in the same building together.
Speaking to New York’s 1035KTU radio station, Kylie said of collaborating with Madonna: “I would. Of course, I would! She’s going on tour. I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town it would be amazing. The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send our warnings!”
While they’ve always wanted to perform together, the pair were never able to make it happen until this week.
