On Tuesday (12.03) after the rapper made a remark about Charli XCX, Matty Healy started a feud with Azealia Banks on X.
After the American-born rapper stated that Charli “used to be soooo pretty,” The 1975 frontman came to the defense of the British chanteuse who is engaged to his bandmate George Daniel, replying:
“All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.”
After the hip-hop star continued to criticize Charli and Matty’s fiancée Gabbriette, the feud quickly escalated with the pop/rocker singer threatening to “slap” her.
Expressing regret after threatening violence, Healy quickly deleted his social media message writing “Nah I can’t be saying I’m gonna hit a girl that’s insane I’m sorry. You just can’t keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it’s really hurtful gets me well defensive (sic).” “Ok I’m gonna delete that tweet that was not cool even if I was angry.”
Matty subsequently joked that he wouldn’t fare well in a potential fight, posting, “She’d f**kin batter me tbf (to be fair).”
After Azealia suggested Matt follow through with his threat, he apologized to her directly, writing, “Nah fr (for real) I was just trying to match your vibe im scared now im sorry bro, i was just sticking up for my mates. Im not tough lol (sic).”
Azealia responded by sharing a close-up picture of Matty’s teeth and instructing him how to take better care of them. He did not engage with her post.
