Marilyn Manson’s UK Tour Cancelled Due To Backlash

Amid significant backlash from politicians and the general public, the opening concert of Marilyn Manson‘s U.K. tour has been cancelled.

Born Brian Warner, the controversial rock musician was scheduled to play a One Assassination Under God Tour show with his band at the Brighton Centre in Brighton, England on October 29. However, it was over this past weekend that fans received a message from Ticketmaster stating that “this event has been cancelled.” While the concert has also been removed from Manson’s official website, his next scheduled UK show is slated for October 31 at Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth.

It was earlier this month that Green MP Siân Berry sent an open letter to Brighton & Hove City Council leader Bella Sankey requesting Manson’s concert at the publicly owned venue be cancelled due to allegations of abuse leveled at the frontman.

“Freedom of expression is an important principle that should be defended, including in relation to artists, but there is an obvious risk to community cohesion and the council has separate equalities obligations to foster good relations between people who share protected characteristics and people who do not share them.” “The Council has a responsibility to take action where there are risks of discrimination, harassment and victimization,” read the formal note. The letter was co-signed by the University of Sussex Students’ Union and officials from local victim support organizations.

In 2021, Manson’s former partner, actress Evan Rachel Wood, accused the embattled musician of psychological and sexual abuse, with five other women filing lawsuits with similar allegations in civil lawsuits.

Due to the expiration of the statute of limitations and lack of evidence following a four-year criminal investigation, in January of this year representatives for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that there would be no charges filed against Manson.

Marilyn Manson has forever denied the allegations against him and representatives for the now 56-year-old artist have not yet commented on the current concert cancellation.
