Mariah Carey Says RIAA ‘Toys’ With Her Grammy Awards

In a recent interview, Mariah Carey claimed that officials at the Recording Academy “toy” with her over Grammy Awards.

During Wednesday’s (10.16) episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, co-host Matt Rogers stated that the multi-award winning singer should’ve received more Grammys throughout the course of her career as despite being nominated 34 times, Carey has only taken home five trophies.

After Rogers said “You don’t have enough of those, by the way,” Carey replied “They scammed me. They toy with me” adding that she was particularly surprised to learn that her 1997 Butterfly LP wasn’t a big winner at the prestigious event “It definitely has very special significance to me. I think it’s probably my best album.” “It has zero accolades, I think.” “I love that album. It has a certain feeling when you listen to it. It’s just got a lot of diversity. You go from Breakdown to Butterfly to My All.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Matt and co-host Bowen Yang drew comparisons between Mariah’s 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi and her 2018 offering Caution subsequent to which Carey indicated a follow-up could be in the works, stating “I think it’s coming in the future. I hope you like it.”

In addition to her five RIAA wins, the now 55-year old superstar chanteuse was honored with the special Grammy Global Impact Award at this years ceremony.
