More than ten years since Macklemore‘s massive success, the pop star (born Ben Haggerty), returns with Ben his third solo album, that was released on Friday (3.03.)
Supported by Ryan Lewis and Wanz on breakthrough hit “Thift Shop,” the Seattle-born rap star won four Grammy Awards, including best new artist, best rap album and a pair of rap single trophies.
Fast forward to 2023, the hip-hop artist went on the record to discuss how his relapse during lockdown and subsequent recovery had helped to shape his new full length:
“I think that pain is a catalyst for great art,” he said during a recent The Kelly Clarkson Show interview. “I don’t want to inflict the pain on myself anymore to make art. It’s not like I need to self-sabotage in order to create, but I think that it created some darker, more honest and vulnerable moments on the album.”
On Tuesday night (3.07) Macklemore appeared onThe Tonight Show for a performance of the album cut “Tail Lights” featuring Morray.
