What will clearly be the “song of the summer,” Lizzo has officially released “About Damn Time,” her feel-good retro-70s single and video.
In the Christian Breslauer-directed video, the superstar singer/songwriter (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) attends a Stressed & Sexy Support group and when asked to share her thoughts with the class, busts out of the room and grooves down a hallway paved with a disco-lit floor.
Turning the school into a unified stress-relieving dance-party, complete with synchronized swimmers, dancing in neon-lit cubicles, and doing the splits in glittery attire, Lizzo teased the song on Sunday (4.10) by sharing a video of herself in her new Yitty shapewear while walking up the stairs of a private jet. “Song of the summer coming 4/14,” she wrote. “Are you ready?”
Lizzo’s last collaborative release was “Rumors” with Cardi B in 2021 and In 2019, she released her Cuz I Love You LP that featured the internet-breaking “Juice,” “Truth Hurts,” “Good as Hell” and “Tempo” with Missy Elliott.
