Lizzo Drops ‘Bitch’ + Video: Look + Listen

Providing fans the latest preview of her newly announced third studio LP dropping June 5, Lizzo unveiled the title track from B****

Featuring an interpolation of Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit of the same name, ‘B****’ reunites Lizzo with long-time collaborators Ricky Reed, Blake Slatkin and Zack Sekoff that adds another layer of pop-culture self-reference to Lizzo’s new era and her “I’m 100% that bitch” on her Diamond-certified single ‘Truth Hurts.’

Supported by a video directed by Child, Lizzo and her entourage are positioned in surreal circus world, complete with bold styling and theatrical choreography.

The latest offering from her forthcoming full length, ‘B****’ follows last month’s ‘Don’t Make Me Love U,’ that arrived with a striking video where Lizzo confronts a version of her past self, exploring themes of reflection, growth and emotional reckoning.

Addressing her decision to call her new album B****, the 38-year of singer/songwriter said she’s “reclaiming the word” and “turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love.” “Reclaiming the word B**** is power – it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of con?dence, and unapologetic self-love.”

Sharing her inspiration for the name that came from singer Meredith’s song and hip-hop star Missy Elliott’s 1999 ‘She’s a B****’ and her own song ‘Truth Hurts.’ the musician (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) added:

“So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot. It was only fitting to name my album B**** because it has become my favourite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100 per cent that b****!”

B**** marks Lizzo’s first collection since 2022’s Special.
