As part if his murder-for-hire lawsuit, new counts have been added to Lil Durk‘s case with federal prosecution now accusing the Grammy-winning rapper and his co-defendants of murder in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit stalking.
Filed on Thursday (6.04,) the latest indictment introduces a new allegation involving the January 27, 2022 killing of a “rival gang member” in Chicago, accusing the musician (born Durk Banks,) of acting as the leader of a menacing Chicago street gang and offering a reward that led to the killing.
According to the filing, after the purported hit, Banks allegedly brought $1,000,000.00 worth of cash to a recording studio where an alleged co-conspirator later posted a photo on social media showing off “his monetary reward”.
Not his first brush with the law, the new indictment reaches back further, when Banks was accused of taking part in an attempted murder in Atlanta in February of 2019, which was motivated by a dispute over the purchase of a stolen car.
Pleading not guilty to his prior indictments, the embattled rapper denies claims that he used “coded language” to hire a group of alleged hitmen to travel to Los Angeles and carry out an execution-style killing on August 19, 2022. According to federal prosecutors, the intended target was Tyquian Terrel Bowman, the rapper known as Quando Rondo, whom Banks allegedly blamed for the 2020 shooting death of his friend and protégé, Dayvon ‘King Von’ Bennett.
Describing the new allegations as a last-ditch effort, on Thursday (6.04) Banks’ attorneys said.”This indictment is lipstick on a pig.”
Since 2017, Banks has been in a relationship with longtime girlfriend and partner, India Royale, with whom he shares a daughter, Willow, born in 2018.
