In the video for his new single “Pointless,” Lewis Capaldi focuses on the unbreakable bond between a mother and her child as he sings “I love when she laughs for no reason/And her love’s the reason I’m here,” Capaldi sings. “She knows when I’m hurt and I know when she’s feeling scared.”
Co-written by Ed Sheeran, ‘Pointless’ is Capaldi’s second single of 2022, following the release of “Forget Me.” And about his fellow songwriter, Lewis joked during an Apple 1 Music interview “He could have actively helped me write a dud knowing that it’s going to end my fucking career.” “He’s a lovely chap. I do love him.”
Scheduled a May 19, 2023 release, the two songs are part of Capaldi’s upcoming album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent that follows his Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent LP (2019) that featured “Before You Go” and “Someone You Loved.”
