Before the official line-up had even been confirmed, Macklemore‘s Free Palestine tour has sold out!
Within days of announcing the trek, on Wednesday (9.30) the four-time Grammy winner confirmed via Instagram that all three shows “sold out immediately,” adding:
“I’m honestly blown away. We put these shows together fast and in community, believing that musicians can stand in solidarity with Palestine, use the stage to raise funds and show what collective action can look like.” “When those in power try to silence our calls for liberation, art will always be a form of resistance.” “Dublin, Paris and London, thank you for showing up the way you did. The response to these shows is another reminder of how many people across the world are standing together for a free Palestine. Lineups coming soon. Can’t wait to be together.”
Running from October 26 to 30 in Dublin, Paris and London, the singer/songwriter (born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty) announced the Free Palestine Tour will be “supporting the Palestinian people and movement”,
Amid the outcry surrounding the 43-year old’s opening “Free Palestine” onstage remarks. Ed Sheeran infamously dropped Macklemore from his Loop tour earlier this month, subsequent to which fellow tour openers Finneas, Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham and Sheeran’s backing band, Beoga, all dropped out of the tour.
