Having been diagnosed with coronary heart disease, singer/songwriter, photographer, and the eldest son of Beatles legend John Lennon, Julian Lennon recently took to social media with his health news, encouraging his followers to get themselves “checked out” by medical professionals before it’s too late.
“After being diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease & a Pre-Diabetic, I urge all to get checked out sooner than later, as you never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much ‘good/healthy’ food as possible.” “Nip it in the bud! As they say…” “Even with these ailments, I’ve managed to catch them early enough, to be able to reverse some of the damage and will hopefully be able to live a healthy long life! Please get checked out, before you’re checked out…” penned the 63-year old.
Sharing photos from a trip to an area of outstanding natural beauty, Julian ended his X post by thanking the doctors who have helped him and “guided me on this new journey so far”.
Coronary heart disease occurs when the arteries narrow due to a buildup of fatty substances, limiting the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart. Meanwhile, prediabetes indicates high blood sugar levels and a risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Transparent about his health issues in the past, in February of 2020, Lennon revealed on Facebook that a mole he’d had on his head most of his life had been removed after a biopsy revealed it had turned cancerous.
During his 2024 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Julian shared that he addresses “anything that just looks or feels a little odd” since his cancer scare, adding “I go for the proper checkup, like twice a year, on every front, just to make sure I’m going to be around. Because I like living. I want to be around for a long time.”
After a protracted battle with cancer, Julian Lennon’s mother, Cynthia, who was John’s first wife, died in April of 2015 at the age of 75.
In 1980, at the age of 40, John Lennon was assassinated in New York.
