As he prepares to drop his second full length, Joe Jonas has reflected on the troubles surrounding his debut solo music effort.
In the spotlight since 2006, the now 35-year-old American singer has enjoyed massive success with The Jonas Brothers, performing alongside his siblings Nick and Kevin.
However, when the middle Jonas brother attempted to strike out on his own in 2011, his debut LP Fastlife, only reached #15 on the Billboard album charts and #99 in the United Kingdom.
Though Joe’s two solo singles ‘See No More’ and ‘Just in Love’ ( featuring Lil Wayne,) also failed to make the grade, he did recognize further success after reforming with his brothers and also as the lead singer of pop-dance act DNCE.
Ahead of the October release of Joe’s long-awaited second solo album, Music for People Who Believe in Love, the musician reflected on his 2011 efforts during a recent interview with Billboard. Concerning his original solo singles and albums, Jonas said:
“I have so much love for those songs – they actually aged pretty well! But it feels like a different person.”
A full length collection that is expected to be deeply personal with lyrics that will touch on his highly publicized divorce from British actress Sophie Turner, 28, Jonas added:
“I was going through a lot of life changes (over the past few years), finding out who I was as a person and father and friend, and living under the microscope of what the music industry can be. And I think, at such a crazy time in my life, I looked to music as an outlet.”
Signed to Republic Records, Music for People Who Believe in Love is slated for an October 18 release.
