Included in a video to the Tennessee Titans that the superstar musician shared via X , Jelly Roll is seen giving a motivational speech to the National Football League (NFL) team.
While displaying his slimmed-down physique – thanks to a 200 pound weight-loss – the country music signer joked that, while he can’t quite yet “get on the field,” he was getting “close,” adding “I lost 200 pounds. I told coach (Brian Callahan) I’m getting a contract if I lose another 50 (22 kilograms).”
Elsewhere in his surprise oration, the artist (born Jason DeFord) urged the athletes to get to know each other outside of athletics.
“(My band and I) learned it was the 23 hours we wasn’t on the stage that we were building our connection (sic). Find a partner, find a friend, build a strength, build a relationship. Community – that stuff will translate to the field.” “That’s something else I learned. I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband. I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human. I started becoming a better son. I started prioritising my momma’s calls. It’s funny how the heavens started opening up for me just ’cause of how I was treating relationships everywhere else,” mused the 40-year old entertainer.
Traveling the globe as part of his Beautifully Broken Tour, Jelly Roll is scheduled to perform in Montreal, Canada on August 16.
