A Japanese woman has been cited for kissing BTS star Jin without consent.
According to the Associated Press on Friday (2.28,) during a 2024 event, a female fan was cited by South Korean police for allegedly planting a kiss on the BTS star without permission.
In celebration the K-pop singer’s completion of his mandatory 18-month military service and BTS’ 11th anniversary, the incident in question happened last June during Jin’s free hug event, which was held in Seoul at which time the now 32-year-old singer (born Kim Seok-jin,) hugged 1,000 fans who had won a raffle.
Following the event a viral video showed Jin looking visibly uncomfortable after the woman, believed to be in her 50s, gave him a firm kiss on the cheek after he leaned in to hug her.
According Seoul’s Songpa police, the female whose identity has been withheld to protect her privacy, has since been summoned on charges of sexual harassment in a public place after a fellow BTS fan filed a complaint against her.
While the woman has refused to appear for questioning, she took to her online blog writing “My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft,” according to Yonhap news agency.
Though JIn has yet to publicly address the incident, he may be called in to provide a statement.
