On Tuesday (4.23), Idina Menzel revealed that she’ll be hitting the road in 2024 for Take Me or Leave Me, her first tour in some eight years.
In a recent interview with Billboard, the superstar singer/actress said “I was really missing the connection with my fans.” “I have my new musical Redwood at La Jolla Playhouse that I’m passionate about, and it’s been occupying me. I thought, if that goes through another iteration, I wanted to make sure I got my time with my fans from a personal perspective as opposed to through a character.”
The 21-stop North American trek will kickoff in Seattle, Washington on July 19 before visiting such major markets as Los Angeles, Dallas, Charleston, New York and Las Vegas, and finishing in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 18.
Named after the Tony Award-winning singer’s hit song from the 1996 Broadway musical Rent, (in which she played Maureen Johnson,) the songstress/thespian confirmed that the tour will feature a career-spanning collection of hits, including songs from such musicals as Wicked, Frozen and Rent, as well as repertoire from her own LPs.
Taking to Instagram, Menzel revealed that she’ll be “doing a vintage set as well as lots of new material”.
Most recently, Idina played Jesse in Redwood, a musical about a grieving woman who leaves her life in New York, from 25 February to 31 March.
