As part of the February 20th, NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe hockey game in Nevada, Green Day will be premiering a new song.
The Grammy-winning punk rock band will debut “Here Comes the Shock,” within a highlight reel of the top plays of the first quarter of the 2020-21 NHL season. “LOUD season has returned. We’re stoked ‘Here Comes The Shock’ will soundtrack the NHL’s return to the outdoors!” Green Day said in a statement.
“Shock” will be officially available on all major streaming services on February 21st, the day after its maiden voyage performance and, as part of a two-year-deal with the NHL, Green Day’s music will be featured throughout the 2021 season.
Taking place at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort, the two regular-season outdoor games will also feature Pentatonix performing the National Anthem remotely on February 21st.
In February 2020, while awaiting their delayed Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer to (tentatively) kick off on June 9th, Green Day released their 13th studio album, Father of All… In the meantime, the California-formed act kept busy with multiple sports appearances, including the 10th annual NFL Honors earlier this month before Super Bowl LV.
