Good Charlotte Drop First LP in 7 Years

Effective August 8, Good Charlotte returns with their eighth album, Motel Du Cap.

On Monday (6.16,) the iconic pop-punk band dropped the news with a billboard on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles that featured nothing more than a picture of the group alongside the album title and release date.

What will be the act’s first full length collection since Generation Rx (2018,) in 2020 the quartet dropped their “Last December” single but since then, band leaders and brothers Joel and Benji Madden have focused on various business ventures outside of music, including livestream platform Veeps, Joel’s Artist Friendly podcast, and an entire artist management company MDDN.

It was earlier this year that Good Charlotte appeared to tease the new project via social media when they shared a cryptic video featuring old clips from the band’s early days and with the caption “GC 2025.”

Good Charlotte have announced several festival appearances for 2025, including Ocean’s Calling and Aftershock. For their first show since 2023, in May the band played at Welcome to Rockville at which time Benji told the crowd about the new project and possible touring plans: “We got a record coming out in August, we’ll be on tour.”
