As an ode to his girlfriend Claudia Sulewski, on Friday (7.15) Finneas released the phone-recorded music video for “Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa.”
The video features the couple’s adorable recordings during their time in Paris, including cuddling in bed, posing in front of a bathroom mirror, and sharing a kiss while visiting the Eiffel Tower.
The superstar singer/writer (and brother of Billie Eilish) sings “She could be the Mona Lisa/If the Mona Lisa had a prettier face.” “This could be heaven/If heaven was an actual place” on the chorus, and “For the record, this is not what I wanted/I wanted my heart to remain in my pocket,” in the second verse, referring to the dating app they met on sometime in 2018. “She took it out and wrote her name right on it.”
‘Mona Lisa …’ follows “Naked” earlier this year from his 2021Optimist LP, that included “The 90s,” “Love is Pain,” and “What They’ll Say About Us” and the Lizzy McAlpine-collaboration “Hate to Be Lame.”
Teasing the video directed by his gal pal, Finneas took to Instagram writing “Hope you love the song and the music video made by the one and only @claudiasulewski.”
