During his recent interview on Hits Radio Breakfast, Lewis Capaldi confirmed that Elton John reached out to him after his emotional performance at Glastonbury.
Having recently returned with his new single “Survive,” the 28-year old Capaldi said that the music icon called him “the day after the first Glastonbury” to offer support.
“He just phoned up and said it was a good idea to take a break and that he thinks it was… a wise decision.” “He is a cool, cool guy, a cool dude, ” said Lewis, adding that the unexpected call came as a surprise, noting that he didn’t know John had his phone number.
When addressing which artists had checked in on him during his emotional time away from the spotlight, the Scottish-born singer/songwriter said some celebrities who publicly claimed to have contacted him never actually did. “There were some people that said they checked in on me, who did not check in on me.” “It was bizarre, it was really weird,” while confirming that his good friend Niall Horan had been in regular contact.
Talking about his return to music, Lewis expressed excitement about getting back on tour, specifically in Australia, which he called his favorite place outside of Scotland. And taking a different approach to touring this time, he plans to take more time off between shows to maintain a healthier balance.
Sharing his journey with therapy, the superstar artist and his therapist focus on “steadying your platform” to maintain emotional stability, rather than aiming for constant happiness. “It’s not necessarily about being in a great place every day or a bad place every day but trying to be as stable as possible,” he explained. Such stability can come from simple activities such as going out for a pint, staying in, or exercising, and although he feels “unqualified” to talk about therapy, he emphasized that it has “definitely helped me a lot.”
