While receiving the first of two COVID-19 vaccines, Dolly Parton performed a special rejiggered rendition of her classic “Jolene.”
A staunch supporter of vaccine research, Parton donated $1 million in 2020 to Vanderbilt University to help find the cure and to celebrate her initial dose of the Moderna product, she posted a video urging her followers to be vaccinated if eligible and said that she was “old enough” and “smart enough” to get her shot.
In an effort to encourage her fans to get vaccinated, Parton re-penned and performed re-adjusted words to her famed ballad “Jolene” singing: “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate.” The multi-Grammy winning artist encouraged people to “get out there and get your shot” before taking her own dose, administered by her friend Dr. Naji Abumrad.
